June 18
This is one of those things that just keeps you going. I came into work today and my boss had left a package of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups on my chair. It made me really happy. I put one right in my bag to enjoy later in the day.

On their day off, we took the OLs to Friendly's for dinner. The hostess was nice enough to give us crayons and kids menus for them to color on. On the back of the menu there was this picture and we really thought we had to find all the items on top in the picture on the bottom. About 4 of us spent a long time staring at this picture until we realized the items are not in it, but in other places on the menu.

Before heading back into work for the evening, Dane and I went to Fire and Ice for brunch and then browsed around Borders on Boylston Street. It was really relaxing and good to spend time with each other after being so busy for the past week. We went over by Trinity church to look at this little garden and this nice English man was nice enough to take this picture for us.

After getting home at 9pm from OL training, Nino called to see if we wanted to meet up with him and some friends at Jillian's. We decided to go out for a bit to see everyone and unwind. I was really happy to see some of the first years (well they were first years when I was a second year in my graduate program, now they've graduated too so I should definitely figure out something different to call them) and catch up on how things are going for everyone.

As part of OL training we volunteered at the AIDS Walk in Boston. We helped to run a checkpoint for all the walkers and had a great time. These are the first t-shirts we got, before they realized they gave us the wrong ones and gave us more boring white shirts. These say "Obey Me" which we all kind of thought was funny.

We began the first day of a marathon month for orientation. Orientation Leader training began with a trip to Hale Reservation and a ropes course. We did a bunch of activities on the grounds, then some low ropes, a catwalk element that was 20 feet in the air, and the swing. For the swing we got harnessed in, attached to another rope, then everyone pulled you up as high as you wanted to go. When you got up, you pulled a rip cord and went swinging through the forest. It was amazing and so much fun!

I've been sewing again! I made a wristlet this time. It was the first thing I've tried that has a zipper and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. The tutorials I've found online have been amazing to follow and probably the only reason I've been able to figure out how to make anything so far. I love the fabric I used for this one.

We drove back to Boston today, taking Steve with us. On the way home we decided to stop at Cabot's since it was Steve's birthday. Since it was really crowded we sat at the counter and I ended up sitting next to Mrs. Cabot! She had a strawberry ice cream cone with one scoop. I bet she's tried everything there.

We went over to Jeremy's house tonight for a make your own salad dinner. I love when he has us all over. He is such a great host. I took this picture of his library. This is just a small corner of the room. He's the only person I know that has an actual library in his apartment (organized by the Library of Congress system, not the Dewey Decimal system).
